Oconee Regional Medical Center, Inc.



Oconee Regional Medical Center is a full-service, not-for-profit, acute care center. Founded in 1957 as Baldwin County Hospital, licensure was granted for 80 beds. As the hospital grew, services were added as the patient base expanded and the name was changed to Oconee Regional Medical Center in 1992. Today, we are an acute care hospital and regional trauma center, licensed for 160 beds and fully accred­ited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.

Over 86 physicians, representing most major specialties, comprise ORMC's medical staff. Medical specialties include: Anesthesiology, Cardiology, Critical Care, Dermatology, Emergency Medicine, Family Practice, Gastroenterology, General Surgery, Gynecology, Hematology, Internal Medicine, Nephrology, Neurology, Obstetrics, Oncology, Ophthalmology, Oral Surgery, Orthopedics, Pathology, Pediatrics, Plastic Surgery, Psychiatry, Pulmonology, Radiation Oncology, Radiology, Urology and Vascular Surgery.

Since 1991, we have recruited over 60 physicians and added a variety of new services, including Sports Cardio-Pulmonary Rehab, Cancer Treatment Center (radiation and chemotherapy), Oconee Regional Healthcare Foundation, Heartburn Center, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Hospice of the Oconee, NETworks (Non-Emergency Transportation), Behavioral Health program, School Nurse program, and a Skilled Nursing Unit.

In April 2000, Oconee Regional opened Park Tower, a $24 million expansion that features state-of-the-art surgical suites, Same Day Surgery, Ambulatory Care, Post-Anesthesia Recovery, Pediatrics, A Place for Women (women’s center), Education Center and an expanded waiting area for patients and family members.

In April of 2005, the hospital opened its newly renovated Emergency Treatment Center which included a 4,157 square-foot addition. Patients now enjoy a larger waiting room, private triage and registration areas and 5 additional beds.

The hospital employs approximately 700 people, making it one of Baldwin County’s largest employers.
